Materials:Canvas on a lightweight wooden stretcher
Framing:optional
This 18" x 24" oil painting on canvas was one of my first works after deciding to retire and pursue painting in 2016. The subject is my daughter, Lane, and her dog, Bailey, an affectionate English beagle.
I was struck by their deep mutual affection and wanted to capture that moment in a painting, so I had to work from a few photos I took of them interacting near a window and the mid-morning light streaming through it.
I've learned a lot more about painting skin and hair since making this picture and would do it quite differently today. However, there is something about the composition and play of light I still like about it.
It is signed and dated on the back and is available framed or unframed. Accompanied by a certificate of authenticity.
