When I shoot on the streets of New York, people tend to show up in every frame. While shooting a "streets of New York City" assignment for the Penumbra Foundation's New York Now workshop in October of 2017, I captured this ironic reflection of a pedestrian in a retail clothing store window in the West Village.

I was apprehensive because I was shooting with a very expensive Leica M10 series digital rangefinder camera I borrowed for the day. It was dark under the scaffolding, so I had the 35mm lens wide open producing a shallow depth-of-field. I honestly wasn't aware of the out-of-focus pedestrian strolling by, but I'm glad he did.

Back in the studio, I converted the image to black & white which I think gives it a "film-noir" quality. Converting to b&w also allows me to print an edition of high quality nearly continuous tone Piezography® prints on 100% rag acid-free baryta (semi-glossy) paper on my rebuilt 8-color Epson 7880 equipped with seven black inks and a channel of clear gloss optimizer.

This b&w print is one of an edition of just 50 high quality nearly continuous tone Piezography® prints on 100% rag acid-free baryta (semi-glossy) paper. I will personally print it on my 8-color Epson 7880 equipped with seven black inks and and eighth channel of clear gloss optimizer to protect and enrich the printed surface.

The 20"w x 13"h image is finished with a simple black (or white) wooden frame and arctic white acid-free matte. It is glazed with a special non-glare clear acrylic sheet to minimize reflections. Acrylic is lightweight, shatterproof, and offers maximum protection to the artwork filtering out 98% of harmful UV found in daylight or fluorescent bulbs. This framed archival print arrives ready-to-hang with all necessary hardware.

Each print in this limited edition of 50 is printed to order, signed in permanent silver ink (lower right) and accompanied by a numbered certificate of authenticity. Because you are purchasing a printed-to-order artwork, unfortunately I cannot accept returns except for those covered by shipping carrier's insurance policy. Each shipment will be insured for the replacement cost if damaged in transit. Damage claims must be submitted in writing within 14 days of receipt.

Please allow 7 to 10 days for printing, framing and packaging your work for shipment. Free shipping by UPS ground, faster service available at UPS's expedited shipping rates.
