Original 46" x 29" Oil Painting - Dark Walnut Floater Frame

This seaside summer home sits at the end of a sandy road on Chappaquiddick Island facing southwest and overlooking Katama Bay. Beyond the bay is a narrow and constantly shifting sand bar that keeps the waves of the Atlantic Ocean from rushing onto the beach depicted in the foreground.

I worked on this picture over three weeks in my studio reconstructing the scene by using photographs and drawing on memories our many summer vacations there. I painted with oil colors and cold wax on Italian linen canvas. It's finished with a high grade clear removable artwork varnish. The cold wax medium was used to thicken the brush strokes of the footprints in the foreground sand.

The unframed linen canvas on hardwood stretchers measures 46" W x 29" H. It's currently framed in a 1.5" deep handsome walnut-stained floater frame and is ready-to-hang including all necessary hardware. The painting can be easily swapped out of the dark wood frame and dropped into a natural maple wood floater frame if that works better with your room's interior design.. The work is signed in the lower right and signed and dated on the verso. A certificate of authenticity is provided to the buyer.
